On June 23, 2017, authorities criminally detained Jiang, a church leader, after accusing her of organizing religious meetings, preaching, and being in possession of religious materials on electronic devices. Sources indicate she may have been originally detained roughly three weeks earlier on June 1.
On October 22, 2018, the Zaozhuang Intermediate People's Court sentenced Jiang to 12 years in prison, three years' deprivation of political rights, and a fine of 120,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
Jiang is believed to be serving her sentence at Shandong Women’s Prison.
