Cui Fenglan is imprisoned for her religious activity.
On June 2, 2016, plainclothes police from Xiangfang district, Ha'erbin municipality, Heilongjiang province, detained Cui as she picked up packages in Daowai district, Ha'erbin. Authorities claimed that she had received good luck charms marked with Falun Gong motifs. reportedly in relation to her practice of Falun Gong. Authorities also seized Falun gong-related materials from her home.
On December 24, 2016, the Xiangfang People's Court sentenced Cui to 15 years in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On March 13, 2017, the Ha'erbin Intermediate People's Court rejected Cui's appeal.

On July 13, 2017, Xinzhou public security officials took into custody Wang and forced her to undergo reeducation. These actions were done in relation to Wang's practice of Falun Gong.
On September 6, 2017, authorities formally detained Wang.
On May 11, 2018, the Xinzhou People's Court sentenced Wang to eight years in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL) and fined her 10,000 yuan.
