Farit Kharisov is imprisoned for his religious activity. 

On June 22, 2021, authorities in Ufa detained several people, including Kharisov, for their alleged membership to the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir organization. Investigators claim Kharisov held meetings for the organization, discussed Islam, and recruited members to the organization. Religious literature was allegedly seized from Kharisov's home. Kharisov was charged with "organizing the activities of an organization…recognized as terrorist" (Art. 205.5-1 RCC).

On July 12, 2023, the Central District Military Court sentenced Kharisov to 16 years in prison.
