On December 31, 2018, authorities detained Guo in Wukeshu town, Yushu city, Changchun municipality, Jilin province, for allegedly handing out Falun Gong calendars.
On August 5, 2019, the Dehui Municipal People’s Court in Changchun sentenced Guo to three years in prison.
Guo's sentence should have ended in December 2021.
