Liu Fengbao was imprisoned for his religious activity. 

On January 7, 2019, police in Yushu city, Changchun municipality, Jilin province, detained Liu alongside two colleagues after they hung a banner that read “Falun Dafa Is Good.” Authorities also reportedly seized Falun Gong-related materials from him.

On August 13, 2019, the Dehui Municipal People’s Court in Changchun sentenced Ding to three years and six months in prison.

Liu's sentence should have ended in July 2022.
