On November 18, 2015, authorities arrested Lodroe, a monk, after accusing him of organizing observances to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 80th birthday. 

On December 6, 2016, the Aba Tibetan & Qiang Autonomous Prefecture (T&QAP) Intermediate People’s Court sentenced Lodroe to 9 years in prison on unspecified charges.
