Zhao Tingting was imprisoned for her religious activity.
On October 3, 2018, authorities arrested Zhao and several of her colleagues after accusing them of talking to people about Falun Gong.
In May 2019, the Anda City Court reportedly sentenced Zhao to two years in prison and fined her 10,000 yuan. She was later transferred to Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison.
On an unspecified date, the Suihua City Intermediate Court reportedly rejected Zhao's appeal.
Zhao was reportedly physically assaulted by inmates and forced into uncomfortable bodily positions while imprisoned.
On October 2, 2020, Zhao was released from prison after completing her sentence.
